Description:  We will explore the rich print and online resources and book lists of the Association of Jewish Libraries, a well-established international organization of professional Judaica librarians who annual award the Sydney Taylor Children’s Jewish Literature awards (similar to the American Library Association’s Caldecott and Newbery Awards for Children’s Literature).  Then we will provide examples of amazing collaborations between librarians and educators which will give participants new ideas to take back to their classrooms.  We will look at research showing connections between libraries and academic achievement; then end with an informal book discussion featuring a selection from the Great Books Foundations’ Jewish anthology, “The Soul of the Text : an Anthology of Jewish Literature” using the Shared Inquiry method.
